A Hands-On Approach to Hands-On Content
I believe this all started when I became, by default, the fix-it guy around the house at an early age. Later came an interest in literature and writing, and ultimately an English degree. After that I picked up the tools again and worked for six years in carpentry and remodeling. And finally I decided to put the two together and hang out my shingle as a writer and editor of home improvement books.
I began by working up to Senior Editor with a major how-to publisher in Minneapolis, creating seven books as both author and lead project editor and contributing content to dozens of other titles. The work covered every aspect of book production, from concept through final proofread, and involved collaboration with designers, photographers, and artists, as well as architects, tradespeople, and building product manufacturers.
